Snowfall Prediction Map: What to Expect From The First Of New Back-To-Back Winter Storms

The upcoming storm, unlike the previous one that hit the area a few days ago, is not expected to bring significant snowfall to the region.

According to the National Weather Service, the first storm is expected to occur from Thursday night, Feb. 15, to the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 16.

The second system is expected to arrive overnight on Friday and last until early Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17.

According to the National Weather Service, a new forecast map predicts that there will be a trace of snowfall in various areas. These areas include New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, and Orange counties in the Hudson Valley, as well as Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties in Connecticut.

However, as we move further north, the situation will change drastically.

AccuWeather.com has recently released a snowfall forecast map showcasing the potential for significant snowfall in upstate New York. The map indicates the darkest shade of blue, suggesting that the area could receive anywhere from 6 inches to a foot of snowfall. This forecast is expected to impact the region significantly and should be taken into consideration for travel and outdoor activities.

Some areas are forecasted to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation, while others can expect 3 to 6 inches in certain regions.

Thursday afternoon will bring an increase in cloud cover, accompanied by persistently cold conditions. Expect high temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, with wind-chill values dropping to about 10 to 15 degrees below that.

According to the National Weather Service, a storm system will move in Thursday night, bringing a combination of snow showers, sleet, and rain showers to southern areas. However, this system is expected to move out quickly before daybreak on Friday, resulting in clear conditions.

According to AccuWeather.com, snow in those areas can result in poor visibility and slippery spots, which can lead to slower travel.

Friday morning will bring a swift transformation of the cloudy skies into a radiant sunny atmosphere. The day will be characterized by a gentle breeze, with winds ranging from 10 to 25 miles per hour, occasionally gusting up to 30 miles per hour. As for the temperature, we can expect it to hover around the upper 30s throughout the day.

Snowfall from the second system is expected to occur overnight on Friday until around 2 p.m. on Saturday for most of the region. In the areas farthest east, snowfall is projected to begin around daybreak and continue until nightfall on Saturday.

The intensity of the storm is still uncertain, and it remains to be seen if it will result in significant snowfall. However, the latest projections suggest that any accumulation will be minimal, with only a trace to an inch expected.

On Saturday afternoon, as the system passes by, we can expect a gradual clearing with temperatures reaching the mid-30s.

The weather forecast for Sunday, February 18 is expected to be mostly sunny with temperatures reaching the mid-30s.

Expect sunny skies for Presidents Day on Monday, February 19th, with temperatures rising above the 30s after five consecutive days. The day will see a pleasant high in the low 40s.
