Former President Donald Trump reiterated his demand for Liz Cheney to be imprisoned, following her strong response to his initial call through a scathing social media post.
On Sunday morning, Trump expressed his opinion on Truth Social, stating that Cheney should be sent to jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee! He shared an article that accused the committee of withholding crucial evidence by not making the testimony public from a Secret Service driver. This driver, whose identity remains unknown, contradicted the account of former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson. Hutchinson claimed that on January 6th, while on their way back to the White House, Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the limo in an effort to redirect it to the Capitol.
Critics on the Right have raised concerns about the committee’s decision to keep the testimony confidential during its investigation. In response, committee members have explained that they had an agreement with the Secret Service to refrain from disclosing certain sensitive information. This included privacy details, as well as records and intelligence that were designated for official use only. The committee conducted a total of 12 interviews, during which they were careful to uphold this agreement.
Cheney fired back at Trump’s demand to have her imprisoned in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Donald, you’re well aware that these claims are false,” Trump retorted. “You’ve had access to the grand jury and J6 transcripts for quite some time now. Your attempt to delay your 1/6 trial is simply because individuals such as your Vice President, White House counsel, aides, campaign officials, and DOJ officials are prepared to testify against you. The truth scares you, and rightfully so.”
Trump once again emphasized his plea.
