The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has concluded a search for a missing South Carolina man who they have classified as “endangered.”
Albert Smalls Jr. was discovered in Lexington and promptly transported to a hospital for evaluation as a precautionary measure, according to the sheriff’s office on Sunday.
There is no available information about how Smalls was found.
Smalls’ family informed the sheriff’s office that the 81-year-old Vance resident was last seen departing from the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Orangeburg around 4 p.m. on Friday. The sheriff’s office made a public report on Saturday regarding Smalls’ disappearance.
According to deputies, Smalls’ blue Ford F-150 pickup truck, bearing a South Carolina license plate with the number “SXE731,” was sighted in Ridgeville around 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeville is approximately 50 miles away from the Lowe’s store.
According to the sheriff’s office, Smalls’ bank card was utilized in Georgetown at 10 a.m. on Saturday. This location is over 100 miles away from Lowe’s and more than 70 miles away from Ridgeville, where his pickup truck was last observed.
According to the sheriff’s office, Smalls’ family members have stated that he occasionally experiences memory loss, which is why he is considered endangered.
It is unclear if the sheriff’s office suspects foul play in Smalls’ disappearance.
