Rudy Moreno, comedian, passes away at 66 after being hospitalized

Los Angeles comedian Rudy Moreno has sadly passed away, as confirmed by Fox News Digital.

Moreno, known as the “Godfather of Latino Comedy,” passed away at the age of 66. His son, Nate, shared with Fox News Digital that while his father’s health was not in the best condition, his sudden death came as a shock.

On Friday night, Moreno passed away in the hospital, with his loved ones by his side. He had suffered from a stroke, sepsis, and ultimately organ failure.

According to his son, he was highly regarded by many people and earned their respect. His ability to make people laugh extended beyond national borders and even reached audiences around the globe.

Nate expressed his desire for his father to be remembered as someone who always gave others a chance.

According to Nate, if he saw potential in someone and had the opportunity to perform, he would give them a few minutes on stage to see how they could develop. He has done this for several comedians and industry professionals who are still recognized today.

One of the well-known personalities in attendance was comedian Ken Jeong.

In a heartfelt conversation with X, he poured out his emotions, expressing his deep sadness. He shared, “Rudy Moreno, the legendary figure in Latino Comedy, played a pivotal role in shaping my career. It was at the Ice House where he gave me my first break. In fact, my wife witnessed my standup for the very first time at the Ice House during Rudy’s show. It was through his unwavering support and continuous provision of stage time that I eventually landed my Netflix special. There are numerous comedians who owe their beginnings to this remarkable individual.”

Moreno showcased his talents as an actor in various television series, such as “Pacific Blue,” “Arrested Development,” “ER,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” and “George Lopez.”

He frequently performed at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, where his son likened it to a residency. Nate recalls that he and his sister Veronica were often the subjects of their father’s jokes, but they always took it in stride.

His wife, Arlene, and his children, as well as two grandchildren, are left behind. The details of the arrangements are still being finalized and will be disclosed to the public in due course.
