Prosecutors have recently filed additional charges against the mother of Elijah Vue, the 3-year-old Wisconsin boy who went missing last month. Furthermore, the judge denied her request for a bond reduction after new information regarding the allegations leading up to the disappearance came to light.
According to Ann Larson, Baur’s attorney, there is a significant amount of intense emotion surrounding the case. She emphasized that Ms. Baur has been extremely anxious and distressed due to her lack of knowledge regarding her son’s whereabouts.
Last month, Baur, a resident of Wisconsin Dells, was charged with a felony count of party-to-a-crime child neglect, along with two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer. Currently, the 31-year-old is in custody with a $15,000 cash bond.
On Thursday, the felony count against Baur in Manitowoc County prosecutors’ case was amended to a charge of party-to-a-crime chronic child neglect. Additionally, they filed a misdemeanor charge of neglecting a child against Baur.
The judge refused Baur’s plea to reduce her bond on Thursday and postponed both her preliminary hearing and Vang’s preliminary hearing from Thursday to March 14.
39-year-old Vang, hailing from Two Rivers, faced formal charges in February for allegedly committing party-to-a-crime child neglect, a felony offense. Currently, he remains in custody on a cash bond of $20,000.

Wisconsin police provided new information on the vehicle of interest in the case of the missing person, Elijah Vue. Despite ongoing efforts, Vue’s whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities urged residents to review their surveillance footage for any potential leads.
As of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Elijah had still not been found, despite the police expanding their search efforts this week.
“Law enforcement agencies from across the state, along with the FBI, DCI, and DNR, joined forces to conduct extensive searches in rural areas of Manitowoc County this morning. The search efforts will persist throughout the afternoon,” stated the Two Rivers Police Department on Facebook.
The department clarified the status of a vehicle of interest they previously identified earlier this week in their update.
The department clarified that their focus is not on the current owner of the vehicle. Instead, they are determined to locate any camera footage of the vehicle on February 19, the day before Elijah was reported missing. Specifically, they are interested in footage captured between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
In an update from the department on Monday, they first released information about the “vehicle of interest”.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that they are currently in possession of the vehicle of interest. They have shared images of the car, which is a 1997 four-door beige Nissan Altima. The license plate on the vehicle starts with “A” and ends with “0,” indicating that it is registered in Wisconsin.
According to the police, neither Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, nor Jesse Vang, the man who reported the toddler missing and both of whom have been charged with child neglect in connection with the case, are the owners of the vehicle.
When did Elijah go missing?
Elijah disappeared on February 20 after his mother sent him to stay with a man in Two Rivers who is now facing charges of child neglect. Despite extensive searches conducted by both the police and local residents, Elijah has not been found yet.
Where are search efforts focused?
According to the Two Rivers Police Department, law enforcement from across the state joined forces on Tuesday in a large-scale operation to expand their search efforts in rural areas.
Over the weekend, the Wisconsin National Guard conducted ground searches, with assistance from the Department of Natural Resources dive teams. They focused their efforts on searching the shorelines of Lake Michigan and Twin River. According to KARE 11, the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, the search was conducted to locate any potential evidence or clues.
After an extensive search that lasted almost two weeks, there is a recent update regarding the case of Elijah Vue, a 3-year-old Wisconsin toddler who went missing. According to prosecutors, the child’s mother had sent him to a home with the intention of teaching him how to “become a man.”
What happened to Elijah before he went missing?
According to court documents, Baur informed the police that she entrusted Vang with the care of Elijah on February 12th. Her intention was for Vang to teach her son important lessons about manhood. She had planned to retrieve him on February 23rd.
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre stated on Friday that Baur had sent Elijah to stay with Vang as a disciplinary measure. It should be noted that Baur was not present in Two Rivers, which is approximately 30 miles southeast of Green Bay, at the time of Elijah’s disappearance.
Vang contacted the police on February 20th to report Elijah as missing. According to his statement, Vang had taken a nap in the morning and had brought Elijah with him to the bedroom. However, when he woke up approximately three hours later, Elijah was no longer there.
According to the complaint, Vang informed the police that he had been in a relationship with Bauer and had been making efforts to assist with her son’s problematic behaviors.
According to authorities, Vang clarified that his intention was to rectify the toddler’s negative behaviors.

The Two Rivers Police Department has made a recent update on Facebook, urging homeowners and businesses to review their surveillance footage captured between 2 and 9 p.m. on Feb. 19. The department is currently searching for Elijah and is requesting the assistance of residents in the Two Rivers area, as well as those in adjacent counties, to review any video footage they may have.

A reward for information
The FBI has recently declared a reward of $15,000 for individuals who can provide information that will help in locating Elijah and apprehending the person responsible for his disappearance.
According to a news release by Two Rivers Police Chief Ben Meinnert, the Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers reward for information regarding the whereabouts of Elijah or the identification and prosecution of the individuals involved in his disappearance has now increased to $10,000.
According to Meinnert, the Crime Stoppers reward is an additional incentive on top of the FBI reward.
