Pro-Palestinian demonstrators caused major disruptions for travelers in Chicago by obstructing the entrance to O’Hare International Airport. As a result, numerous individuals were forced to make their way on foot to reach the terminal.
Protesters took action by blocking the I-190 access road to the Chicago-area airport. They sat together, arms interlocked, across the highway, showing their united front. The air was filled with chants of “Free Palestine” as some protesters stood their ground. The sound of drumming added to the intensity of the protest, amplifying their message.
The police responded to the scene in order to control the protest, yet the demonstration still resulted in heavy traffic forming outside of O’Hare.
Numerous travelers made the decision to forgo their transportation to the airport, opting instead to walk on foot along the grassy median while dragging their luggage. CBS News reports that the protest was brief, lasting less than an hour, and normal traffic flow resumed by 9:15 AM.
According to CBS News, the police have not confirmed any arrests connected to the protest.
On Tax Day, there were multiple protests that took place. Apart from the demonstration in Washington D.C., there were also protests occurring in other parts of the country. In San Francisco, demonstrators blocked the southbound lanes of the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as the northbound lanes of Interstate 880 in the Bay Area. These protests were held to demand a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

According to Bay City News Service, there are two more protests scheduled for Monday.
