Police searching for 3 individuals involved in fatal altercation on Bronx subway train

Surveillance images of three suspects have been released by the police after a man was killed in the Bronx early Friday morning, following a fight on a subway train.

A tragic incident occurred at the 182-183 Street station when a 45-year-old man named William Alvarez lost his life. The unfortunate incident took place on a southbound D train at around 5:30 a.m.

The individual was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where medical professionals declared him deceased.

According to NYPD officials, Alvarez was already seated on the train when two men and a woman entered at the Fordham Road station.

According to the police, one of the men sat beside the victim and engaged in a conversation.

An argument ensued between the two individuals, with Alvarez finding himself surrounded by the two other passengers who were accompanying the initial suspect.

According to MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber, the entire incident was captured on a camera that was present on the subway car.

According to the police, it seemed that he had suffered from either a gunshot or a stabbing. The final confirmation regarding the type of weapon used will be determined by the medical examiner.

NYPD Assistant Chief Jerry O’Sullivan stated that the motive behind the incident remains unknown. However, it is clear that the victim was not the main instigator in this case.

According to NYPD Transit Chief Michael Kemper, there were additional passengers on the train and neighboring cars during the incident. The entire episode was captured on surveillance camera, and there are eyewitnesses and ear witnesses who can provide further information.

Authorities conducted their investigation, causing the station to remain closed until the morning.

The tragic incident left the neighbors deeply disturbed and shaken.

“I typically avoid this station because it’s known to be dangerous. Instead, I usually opt to take the station before or after and travel from there. It’s really unfortunate… the train is simply not safe,” shared Cameron, a concerned neighbor.

No arrests have been made and authorities have not recovered any weapon.

The death of Alvarez coincides with an increase in overall crime within the transit system, which has risen by 22.6%.
