Police arrested a wanted Detroit homicide suspect at a Toledo hotel

Authorities have apprehended a man who was being sought on charges of homicide and weapons offenses at a Toledo hotel on Wednesday, according to records.

Toledo Police reports state that the Detroit Police Violent Crime Taskforce reached out to local law enforcement agencies regarding Oscar Vega. They had tracked Vega, a resident of Detroit, to the Quality Inn hotel on Secor Road.

SWAT, Gang Task Force, and other specialized units reached out to hotel employees at around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday to verify Vega’s presence in one of the rooms. Despite their efforts, there was no response when the police knocked on the door. They attempted to gain entry using a master key, but the deadbolt was securely locked.

The police forcefully opened the door and apprehended Vega without any additional issues. They then proceeded to book him into the Lucas County Jail. At this time, it is unclear when a potential extradition date may be set.
