Both Barrett and Maddox hail from Northeast DC and it is believed that they were acquainted with each other.
At around 11:20 a.m. on February 23, officers from the department responded to a call regarding an unconscious person at a hotel located in the 1600 block of New York Avenue NE.
Last year, a beloved 31-year-old woman was tragically killed during a random attack at the same hotel.
The police have identified Barrett as a suspect and arrested him on Friday. He has been charged with first-degree murder. However, the police have not yet released any information regarding the motive behind the fatal incident.
