Mother of charged 12-year-old apologizes
According to Click 2 Houston, the two boys, who were brothers, engaged in an argument with the 59-year-old woman. They rode their bikes away and then came back 12 minutes later while she was in her garage, where the incident took place.
“I apologize to the family. I deeply regret the actions committed by my son. I sincerely pray for your well-being and good health,” expressed the mother in an interview with Click 2 Houston. She further mentioned that her son is dealing with certain mental health challenges.
According to a report from local station ABC13, a neighbor has identified the boys as residents of the neighborhood.
According to a concerned neighbor who wishes to remain anonymous, none of us ever expected that the individuals responsible for the attack on the elderly woman would be kids from our own neighborhood. The neighbor expressed their disbelief, stating that it is alarming to think that these youngsters, who were well aware of the woman’s mental health challenges, would still engage in such a violent act even after being warned by another neighbor to leave her alone.
The boys and their mother are not being named by USA TODAY due to the ages of the children involved.
