Minnesota-based Hormel Foods Sales LLC has recently issued a recall for two Planters products that were manufactured at one of their facilities. These products were distributed to five states in the southeast region of the United States. The reason for the recall is that these products have the potential to cause severe and even fatal infections.
Hormel was responsible for manufacturing the tainted Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts for Planters at one of its facilities. These products were then distributed to Publix warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, as well as Dollar Tree warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia.
In April, when Hormel was in the process of producing and distributing their products, they came across a concerning issue. It was discovered that the packaged contents of these products had the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes, an organism, has the potential to cause severe and even life-threatening infections in vulnerable populations such as young children, elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems.

Moreover, pregnant women are at risk of experiencing miscarriages or stillbirths due to listeria infections.
