Official cause of death revealed for South Carolina mother who disappeared after distress call

The South Carolina Coroner has finally revealed the cause of death for a mother who disappeared after a distressing 911 call several months ago.

Jamilla Smith, a 30-year-old woman, mysteriously disappeared on December 2, 2023, from Aiken County, located on the border of Georgia and South Carolina.

On May 2, the police made an announcement regarding the discovery of Smith’s body in a wooded area off of Silver Bluff Road.

According to WJBF, the Aiken County Coroner stated that Smith died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head.

Authorities have arrested three individuals in relation to the death of Smith, including her former boyfriend, Daniel Harmon. Harmon has been charged with both kidnapping and murder.

Bryan Hampton, a resident of Augusta, and Clyde Hendley, hailing from Bath, SC, faced arrest for their involvement in the case. Both individuals were charged with being accessories after the fact.
