New poll reveals decrease in young voter support for Biden due to two major issues

President Joe Biden has been experiencing a decline in support from young voters, as indicated by a recent poll. The handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict and other matters by the President has led to dissatisfaction among this particular demographic.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Harvard Youth poll, it was found that among registered young voters aged 18-29, Biden would outperform Trump with 50% support compared to Trump’s 37%. Among likely young voters in the same age group, Biden has an even stronger lead with 56% support, while Trump trails behind with 37%. When considering all young adults below the age of 30, the margin narrows slightly, with 45% supporting Biden and 37% supporting Trump. It is worth noting that 16% of Americans in this age group remain undecided.

According to the poll, the president enjoyed a significantly larger lead at this point in the 2020 election. Biden garnered support from 60% of likely young voters under 30, while Trump only managed to secure 30% of their support. Among all young adults, Biden received support from 51%, while Trump received support from 28%.

The poll took place from March 14 to March 21 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

According to a news release, Setti Warren, the director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School, emphasized that young people today have distinct concerns regarding the direction of our country. He acknowledged that they are paying attention to various issues such as the economy, foreign policy, immigration, and climate change. Furthermore, he highlighted that young people are increasingly ready to make their voices heard at the ballot box in the upcoming November elections.

The Israel-Hamas conflict is a significant factor motivating young voters to cast their ballots. According to the poll, a greater number of young Americans believe that Israel’s actions are unjustified rather than justified.

In the upcoming 2024 elections, voters will consider foreign policy as a significant factor due to concerns over the potential escalation of conflict between Iran and Israel. The fear of a possible World War III will heavily influence their decision-making process.

Immigration is a topic that is gaining a lot of attention. According to a recent survey, it was found that 53% of young Americans believe that there is a crisis at the southern border. However, interestingly, 50% of these individuals also agree that immigrants actually enhance the culture of the United States. Additionally, 45% of the respondents oppose the construction of a wall. These findings highlight the diverse opinions held by young Americans regarding immigration.

According to another survey, young voters do not seem to strongly support Biden. A USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll conducted in January revealed that Trump actually leads among registered voters under 35, with 37% support compared to Biden’s 33%.

According to a recent poll, President Biden’s support among young voters is declining due to two major issues. The findings suggest that these concerns are impacting his popularity among this demographic. It is important for the Biden administration to address these issues in order to regain the support of young voters.
