After the conclusion of a NASCAR Cup Series race, the displayed results are initially considered unofficial. Brad Keselowski from RFK Racing was aware of this and, despite being scored in third place, he made it clear during his post-race interview that he was not ready to concede second place to William Byron from Hendrick Motorsports in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 on Sunday.
During the thrilling race at Texas Motor Speedway, a series of unexpected events unfolded on the track. Unfortunately, on two separate occasions during overtime restarts, the driver who was in second place behind the eventual race winner, Chase Elliott, unexpectedly crashed out.
Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing was the first driver that the Hendrick Motorsports driver had overtaken for the lead on the previous restart. The crash occurred before the white flag, resulting in another overtime restart.
Chase Elliott wins at Texas
There was another overtime restart, which wasn’t the final one, due to a multi-car crash at the rear of the pack. This led to the second consecutive restart, with Elliott and Ross Chastain from Trackhouse Racing Team on the front row.
During the race, Elliott secured his position in the lead by taking the white flag ahead of Chastain. However, as they reached the back straightaway of the Fort Worth oval, a collision between Byron and Chastain caused the No. 1 Chevrolet to crash out of the race.
The race came to an end as the yellow flag was raised due to Chastain’s position on the race track. At that moment, Byron held the second-place position, with Keselowski trailing in third.

Upon closer examination, it was concluded that the No. 6 Ford had indeed surpassed the No. 24 Chevrolet when the caution was called.
In reviewing the finish, NASCAR put Keselowski in second and Byron in third at time of caution.

Keselowski secured a second-place finish, which is his best result since becoming a driver and team co-owner at RFK Racing in 2022.
Chastain’s worst result of the season through nine races came when he was scored in 32nd place due to the large number of drivers who finished on the lead lap.
Elliott’s 42-race winless streak was finally broken on Sunday, but Keselowski’s continued to grow, reaching 107 races without a win. Prior to Sunday’s race, both drivers had last tasted victory at Talladega, with Elliott winning in October 2022 and Keselowski in April 2021.
The upcoming race on the Cup Series schedule will be held at Talladega this Sunday, April 21. You can catch the live broadcast of the GEICO 500 on Fox starting at 3:00 p.m. ET. Last year, Kyle Busch from Richard Childress Racing and Ryan Blaney from Team Penske emerged victorious at this track.
