In connection with the death of a 25-year-old woman in Cleveland, Tennessee, authorities in Texas have apprehended a man who entered the country through a federal immigration program.
On Monday, Dayren Roque Lopez,, 41, of Cuba, was apprehended in Zavala County, Texas, following a multistate pursuit. On Sunday, Dayana Garcia’s body was discovered at a Cleveland residence, and he has been charged with her homicide.
The Cleveland Police Department alleged that Garcia’s body was discovered at 315 Northcrest Circle during a search warrant after receiving a missing person report.
Zavala County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended the fugitive from Tennessee after receiving a report to search for Lopez’s vehicle.
During a criminal traffic check in La Pryor, Texas, deputies discovered a 2008 beige Toyota Corolla with Tennessee license plates.
Lopez entered the nation on August 5, 2023, via San Ysidro, California, using the CBP One app, a smartphone application that facilitates specific immigration procedures, according to sources. In November, he was scheduled to appear in immigration court in Memphis

According to the authorities, Lopez was permitted to remain in the country despite a domestic abuse incident that occurred in February, as there was no conviction. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., asserted that Lopez had infiltrated as a result of a misguided border policy in response to the arrest.
