Michigan shooting leaves 7 injured, including 17-year-old boy who died, and 1 in critical condition: authorities

According to authorities, a tragic incident occurred in Lansing, Michigan, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy. Moreover, multiple individuals were also shot during the incident in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to a news release from the department, Lansing police promptly responded to the incident downtown at around 2:50 a.m.

According to the release, as soon as the officers arrived at the scene, they were met with a large crowd of people and discovered that multiple individuals had been shot. The Lansing Fire Department promptly responded to provide medical treatment and transport several of the victims to a nearby hospital.

Seven individuals, aged between 15 and 20, sustained gunshot wounds, as reported by the police. Sadly, the 17-year-old victim passed away at a nearby hospital, while at least one person remains in critical condition, as stated in the release.

Lansing mayor: ‘This is a case of people using guns to settle arguments’

As of Monday morning, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting. According to a press release, it is believed that the incident is isolated, and the investigation is currently underway.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor has issued a statement urging for increased state and federal action on gun control, according to a report from local station WILX.

“My heart goes out to the victims and their families in this tragic incident of using guns to resolve conflicts,” expressed Schor in a heartfelt statement.
