An investigation is currently in progress following the discovery of a deceased woman by a hotel maid in SoHo on Thursday morning.
Detectives have discovered the victim, believed to be a 38-year-old woman, in her room at SoHo 54 Hotel at approximately 10:30 a.m.
According to sources, the woman had been occupying a room on the 11th floor of the hotel for a few days.
The guests staying in the adjacent room mentioned that they didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. However, on Thursday morning, they heard the hotel manager loudly knocking on the door next to theirs.
According to Victoria Marinucci, a hotel guest, she and her companions were abruptly awakened by loud knocking on their door this morning. She described how the person outside repeatedly said “hello” without any response from them, which made the situation quite scary and unnerving.
Detectives are currently investigating whether a bloody iron found near her could have played a role in her death.
The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, however, the detectives are treating this as a homicide.
At present, there have been no arrests made.
