Lizzo responds to portrayal in ‘South Park’ episode on obesity

Lizzo was filled with astonishment and seemingly thrilled when she discovered that she was mentioned in this week’s episode of “South Park,” which focused on the topic of obesity.

In a recent TikTok video, the rapper and singer reacted to a scene from “South Park” and humorously expressed her fear of being mentioned in an episode.

In the recently released episode of “South Park: The End of Obesity” on Paramount+, Cartman sets out on a mission to find a solution for his weight loss. Initially unable to afford the expensive anti-obesity medication, Cartman’s doctor suggests a more affordable alternative called “Lizzo.” Surprisingly, this medication comes in the form of what looks like an album.

In a following advertisement for the drug “Lizzo,” a lively voice highlights its ability to make users feel positive about their weight. The commercial asserts that 70% of those who have taken the drug no longer worry about their weight.

As Lizzo watched with wide eyes and a hand over her mouth, the voice-over claimed that listening to her music allows you to indulge in all your favorite foods while doing minimal physical activity. However, the commercial also warned of potential side effects such as constipation and advised viewers to stop listening to Lizzo if they experience suicidal thoughts. It even mentioned more severe complications like pancreatitis, hypothermia, and the bizarre possibility of literally excreting music from your ears.

“I can’t believe it. It’s like, wow, I am truly that woman,” she expressed, with an additional remark, “I genuinely demonstrate to the world the importance of self-love and not caring about what others think to such an extent that even the men in Colorado recognize and include me in their long-standing cartoon series that has been running for 25 years.”

Lizzo’s representatives and Paramount have not yet responded to a request for comment.

Amid the ongoing craze surrounding drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, there has been a surge in popularity. Over the past year, numerous celebrities and influencers have claimed to use these drugs for rapid weight loss.

Lizzo, also known as Melissa Jefferson, is renowned for advocating body positivity through her music and social media presence. In the episode, Cartman’s doctor praised her as a talented singer who promotes self-acceptance and embracing one’s appearance.

Upon receiving his prescription to listen to Lizzo five times a day and watch her videos each night before bed, Cartman’s initial reaction is far from enthusiastic.

At one point, he asserts, “Wealthy individuals have access to Ozempic, while underprivileged individuals are encouraged to embrace body positivity.”

However, as the episode concludes, it becomes evident that their perspective has changed. Despite embarking on a ridiculous journey to obtain weight-loss drugs for Cartman, they ultimately fail to secure them.

In an impassioned monologue delivered in the school cafeteria, Kyle admits that he had been mistaken in his belief that “fat people simply needed more willpower.” He goes on to critique the role of sugar, pharmaceutical companies, and insurers, expressing his frustration over their exploitation of the general population for profit.

“How can anyone possibly maintain their willpower in the face of constant manipulation from various external forces? It’s simply impossible. I’ve come to realize something incredibly significant – it’s not fair to hold individuals solely responsible for their weight,” Kyle asserts assertively, emphasizing that they will no longer pass judgment on anyone based on their body size or shape.”
