NBA player Kelly Oubre Jr. experienced a double blow on Monday night. Not only did his team lose a playoff game, but he also suffered a car accident that resulted in the wreck of his beloved Lamborghini. The incident occurred just hours after the Sixers’ defeat to the Knicks in Game 2 of their postseason series, according to a report by TMZ Sports.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the accident occurred around 1:45 AM on Tuesday. This was shortly after Oubre and the 76ers lost a close game against the Madison Square Garden with a score of 104-101.
According to law enforcement, Oubre’s matte purple Lambo from 2021 failed to stop at a red traffic signal, resulting in a collision with a 2023 Hyundai Elantra.
Fortunately, according to authorities, there were no reported injuries. However, they did mention that both vehicles had to be towed away due to the damage they sustained.
According to TMZ Sports, the Sixers have informed them that they were aware of the accident.
Oubre is undoubtedly devastated by this setback, as he has expressed great admiration for the Lambo in the past. He even had the opportunity to pose with it during a photo shoot with Intersection Magazine.
Adding salt to the wound, he and his Sixers must win four out of the next five games against New York to progress in the postseason.
Later on Thursday, Oubre will have an opportunity to bounce back and regain his momentum as Philadelphia is scheduled to face NY in Game 3 at the Wells Fargo Center at 4:30 PM PT.
Oubre is expected to be in the lineup, according to reports.
