Every year, New York State implements a burn ban to safeguard the valuable forests, woodlands, and local communities.

Annual burn ban is in effect from March 16 through May 14.

The New York State DEC wants to remind everyone about the importance of considering alternative methods to dispose of downed sticks, limbs, and debris. While burning may seem like a quick and efficient solution, it is essential to be mindful of the potential risks and negative impacts it can have on the environment and public health.
