Home State Newspaper Column Rebukes Lauren Boebert: Calls Her ‘Cowardly’

In a recent column, Representative Lauren Boebert faced criticism from her hometown newspaper once again. The column chastised her for displaying “cowardice.”

Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican and a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been serving as the representative for Colorado’s 3rd District since 2021. Currently, she is running for reelection to the U.S. House in the 4th District. In the 2022 midterm elections, Boebert faced a close race against Democrat Adam Frisch, narrowly winning the seat by only a few hundred votes. The 4th District is widely considered to be a reliably Republican stronghold, making it highly likely that whoever secures the GOP nomination will ultimately emerge victorious in the general election.

Despite the congresswoman’s efforts, her concerns about reelection have not completely disappeared. Republican voters continue to criticize her, accusing her of opportunism in the district swap. They also express their discontent with her personal controversies, notably the incident in which she was expelled from a Denver theater for inappropriate behavior with a companion. Although she has apologized for her actions, these scandals have had a negative impact on her image. While there is a lack of comprehensive polling in Boebert’s race, informal straw polls conducted among GOP voters in the district indicate that the congresswoman is facing difficulties in comparison to other candidates.

In a recent column published by the Colorado Sun, writer Mario Nicolais vocally criticized Boebert, highlighting her “cowardice” as a contributing factor to the diminishing influence of the Republican Party in Colorado. This adds to the ongoing criticism Boebert has faced from local newspapers within her home state.

According to Nicolais, Boebert has consistently brought shame upon herself, her family, her constituents, and her state. He believes that her actions, including her theatrics last year, only further demonstrated her disregard for ordinary Coloradans. However, Nicolais asserts that it was not solely her behavior that led to her disrespecting the voters in the 3rd Congressional District. He suggests that Boebert was aware that she had overstayed her welcome among voters, who nearly voted her out in 2022.

According to him, Adam Frisch would have easily defeated Boebert in a rematch. Despite the advantage of being the incumbent, her fundraising was overshadowed by his. His surprising ability to attract moderate voters and reasonable Republicans nearly led him to victory, and his popularity could have only grown over time. In 2024, the increased Democratic turnout, driven by the presidential election and the belief that they could win, would have overwhelmed Boebert.

The Republican primary race is scheduled to occur in the 4th District on June 25th. Despite the challenges she has been facing, Boebert managed to garner enough delegate support from the district, which resulted in her being positioned at the forefront of her ballot.

While endorsing Boebert last month on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump, the presumed 2024 GOP presidential nominee, also gave her a shout out during a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. He expressed confidence in her abilities and suggested that she would excel in her district. Although the impact of the former president’s endorsements in general races has been uncertain, they have been proven to significantly influence GOP primary races.

According to a post on Truth Social, the former president expressed his full endorsement and support for Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, describing her as a proven conservative and effective leader who delivers for Colorado and the America First agenda. He referred to her as a trusted America First Fighter and emphasized that she has his complete and total endorsement for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.
