Florida Woman Ana Knezevich’s Husband Arrested at Miami International Airport after Her Disappearance in Spain

David Knezevich’s attorney has stated that his client, the estranged husband of Ana Maria Knezevich, denies any involvement in her disappearance from a Madrid apartment building.

David Knezevich, the husband of a Florida woman who disappeared from an apartment in Spain under mysterious circumstances in February, was apprehended by federal and international authorities on Saturday.

Ana Maria Knezevich, 40, disappeared in Madrid, Spain, on Feb. 2 at around 10 p.m. This happened shortly after a man wearing a motorcycle helmet vandalized the surveillance cameras in her apartment building located in the Salamanca quarter.

In a recent post on X, Policรญa Nacional, the Spanish international police, announced that David, 36, has been apprehended at Miami International Airport. The arrest is related to the investigation into the disappearance of his wife.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the FBI confirmed that David has been arrested for his involvement in the kidnapping of a U.S. Citizen in Madrid, Spain, on or about February 2, 2024.

The Diplomatic Security Service and the FBI made the arrest at Miami International Airport on Saturday without any incident. An FBI spokesperson stated that the subject is currently in federal custody and is expected to have his initial appearance in Miami federal court. The Spanish National Police, Customs and Border Protection, the Diplomatic Security Service, and the FBI are continuing their investigation. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information will be disclosed at this time.

David’s attorney, Ken Padowitz, has also confirmed the arrest of his client. In fact, Padowitz mentioned that he had a meeting scheduled with David in court on Monday morning.

Ana’s friend, Sanna Rameau, expressed her satisfaction with the recent arrest made in this case, stating, “I am glad that there has been an arrest in this case.”

A close friend of a missing Florida woman in Spain has claimed that she was taken against her will by an unknown individual. The incident reportedly occurred after the suspect spray-painted security cameras in the area.

“We are hopeful that this next chapter will bring about justice and provide us with the answers we seek regarding Ana’s disappearance,” she expressed.

According to a report, Juan Henao, Ana’s brother, informed Fort Lauderdale police on February 7th about the couple’s tumultuous divorce, which involved a significant amount of money. He expressed great concern for his sister’s well-being.

According to the report, it was stated that David traveled to Serbia on January 17th of this year. However, the duration of his stay in Serbia is uncertain. The report also mentions that the individual who provided the information tried to contact David through calls and text messages, inquiring about Ana’s whereabouts, but received no response. The report further states that David finally responded to Juan’s messages last night at around 6pm via ‘Whats [App]’, indicating that he was out of the country and informing Juan that Ana was missing. No additional details were provided in the response.

David departed from Fort Lauderdale and returned to Serbia, his country of origin, several months prior to his wife’s disappearance during their separation. During this time, Ana had been frequently visiting Europe and spending time with friends, as the couple had started discussing the possibility of getting a divorce.

Padowitz previously told Fox News Digital that he feels terrible and has no answers as to why this happened. However, he wants to speak up when facts are put out there that suggest there was a ‘nasty’ divorce, even though there is no evidence to support such claims.

The friend of an American woman who mysteriously vanished in Spain after sending bizarre messages has opened up about the perplexing situation, describing it as “very, very strange.”

Ana and David were partners in an IT company based in South Florida. Along with their business ventures, they both had a keen interest in real estate. Rameau, in a phone interview with Fox News Digital, described them as a “successful couple” who had been married for 13 years. However, they made the decision to separate last summer.

According to Rameau, she found it challenging, which was evident, so she decided to increase her time spent in Europe, particularly in Madrid, where she had friends from earlier times.

She vanished without a trace.

“I just met someone amazing!” the message on WhatsApp exclaims. “He has a summer house located approximately 2 hours away from Madrid. We’re heading there right now, and I’ll be spending a few days there. The signal might be a bit weak, but I’ll give you a call as soon as I return.”

Police recently visited the residence of Ana and David Knezevich in an attempt to make contact with the couple. However, when they arrived, there was no response at the door, and they noticed a stack of packages outside. (Sanna Rameau)

Rameau received another message that said, “After my therapy session yesterday, I felt the need to take a walk. Surprisingly, he came up to me on the street! It was an incredible connection, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Knezevich was reported missing while she was abroad. As a result, the FLPD is not conducting an investigation into her disappearance. When contacted for further information, the department referred Fox News Digital to the State Department, which has yet to provide a comment.

According to Padowitz, David has no connections to Madrid, is not familiar with Spanish, and has been actively cooperating with investigators in Serbia while he is still there.
