Family of Israeli hostage hopes video serves as a reminder for the necessity of a resolution

Naama Levy’s brother believes that sharing the distressing video of the moment his sister and other female hostages were abducted serves as a reminder to both the global community and world leaders. The purpose of releasing the video is to urge them to take action and work towards securing the safe release of the hostages.

On October 7th, Naama, a nineteen-year-old, along with six other young women, was abducted by Hamas gunmen from the Nahal Oz military base. These women were serving as observers, monitoring surveillance cameras of the Gaza perimeter fence.

Naama, in a widely viewed Hamas video during her time in Gaza, appeared with bloodstains on the crotch area of her trousers, her hands bound, and her ankles injured.

In English, one expresses admiration by saying, “You’re beautiful.”

With blood staining her face, Naama, in English, utters, “I have friends in Palestine.” Prior to this, she had been involved in an Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative. Her family has always regarded her as a fervent advocate for peace.

According to the source, the individual mentioned that the current state of the indirect talks between Israel and Hamas is not looking promising. He described the situation as being in a “very bad place.”

Amit expressed that watching the video released on Thursday was extremely difficult for him. He described seeing his little sister with a certain look in her eyes, which deeply affected him.

“I never expected to witness her in such a state of fear and distress,” he expressed.

However, he also mentioned that the video provided him with a sense of strength.

“We believe she is handling the situation with the grace and courage of a true superhero, fighting for her life like a hero.”

Liri Albag, 18, Karina Ariev, 19, Daniela Gilboa, 19, and Agam Berger, 19, are still being held captive along with Naama. It has been 229 days since they were taken hostage.

Naama’s family is filled with fear after watching the video of her being kidnapped, with bloodied trousers, and hearing the accounts of other hostages. They are particularly concerned about the potential risk of sexual assault.

“It’s incredibly challenging for us. The fear has been with me since 7 October, and it’s not something that leaves me or anyone in my family,” Amit expressed.

“We understand that there is a possibility, perhaps even a strong possibility, that Naama and other girls and men are facing harassment. This fear is incredibly distressing, and it’s difficult to put into words just how painful it is. All we can do is continue to fight tirelessly for her release from this unbearable situation.”

In a statement, Naama’s mother, Ayelet, expressed her concern about the video, stating that it only captures a fraction of the terrible things happening in the shelter’s surroundings.
