Elon Musk says Russia ‘will probably win more land’ in Ukraine

Elon Musk shared his thoughts on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, expressing his belief that Russia would undoubtedly expand its territory beyond its current boundaries.

Elaborating on a post on X, previously known as Twitter, regarding the war, Musk expressed his opinion by stating, “Ukraine’s decision to attack a larger army, which had a strategic defense system, minefields, and superior artillery, while lacking armor or air superiority, resulted in a tragic loss of life. It was a predictable outcome that any sensible person could have foreseen.”

According to his statement, he had advised Ukraine a year ago to focus on defending its territory rather than attempting to attack Russian forces.

Elon Musk expressed his belief that Russia is unlikely to be able to take control of the entire Ukraine due to strong resistance from the local population in the western regions. However, he acknowledged that Russia could potentially expand its territorial control beyond its current boundaries.

According to his assessment, a prolonged war may result in Russian forces capturing the port city of Odesa on the Black Sea. He emphasized that the key concern is whether Ukraine will retain its access to the Black Sea.

“I believe it would be prudent to seek a negotiated settlement before reaching that point,” he advised.

Musk received criticism from several individuals regarding his perspective and his choice to use Russian transliterations for “Odesa” and “Dnipro.”

When Russia first invaded, SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, sent “thousands” of terminals to Ukraine for its Starlink satellite internet service.

According to Reuters, Ukraine reported last year that various organizations, including the military and hospitals, were using approximately 42,000 terminals.

However, Musk has now turned to Twitter to seemingly ridicule Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s attempts to obtain assistance from the United States.

Musk also disclosed that he turned down Kyiv’s plea to activate Starlink near Russian-annexed Crimea in 2022. The reason behind this decision was his concern about SpaceX becoming directly involved in a significant act of war, as Ukraine was planning an attack on Russia’s navy.

Ukrainian intelligence has recently come forward with evidence suggesting that Russian forces are utilizing Starlink in the occupied areas of Ukraine.

According to a statement from SpaceX, they have made it clear that they have no involvement in any kind of business with the Russian Government or its military.

House Democrats announced earlier this month that they are conducting an investigation into SpaceX. The focus of the investigation is to determine whether Russia has gained access to Starlink.
