Dallas police identify Chiefs’ Rice as suspect in alleged assault

The Dallas Morning News reported on Tuesday that Rashee Rice, a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, is being investigated as a suspect in an alleged assault at a Dallas nightclub. The incident resulted in injuries to a man, according to the police.

Law enforcement officials reported that officers were sent to the nightclub early Monday morning in response to an assault. The Morning News was informed by the officials that a man had been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including swelling on one side of his face.

According to the Morning News, as of Tuesday afternoon, the police have not filed any charges related to the alleged assault.

The Chiefs did not provide any comment on the matter. Rice’s attorney also chose not to comment when approached by the Morning News.

Rice, who had a standout rookie season as a receiver for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs, finds himself facing another off-season challenge.

Rice, who is 24 years old, was taken into custody in Dallas back in March due to his role in a seven-car accident that caused injuries to at least seven individuals. The charges against him include one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision resulting in serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision resulting in injury, as reported by the police.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Morning News, Rice’s vehicle was traveling at a speed of 119 mph before the crash on a Dallas freeway. The affidavit further stated that Rice made several aggressive maneuvers in an attempt to navigate through the traffic.
