Biden campaign mocks tongue-tied Trump reading from a ’emotional support document’ outside the hush money trial

The Biden campaign ridiculed Donald Trump for his incoherent speech and reliance on an “emotional support paper” during his address outside his New York hush money trial. This tactic was a clever reversal of Trump’s frequent criticism of Joe Biden’s occasional stutter.

Outside the Manhattan courthouse, where he is on trial for allegedly concealing hush money payments during the 2016 campaign, Mr. Trump delivered a lengthy tirade on Tuesday, leading up to the closing arguments.

The former president stumbled as he read from a packet of paper filled with favorable press clips and supportive quotes from different commentators. He once again claimed that he did not violate any federal laws when he made hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

The rapid response wing of the Biden campaign, Biden-Harris HQ, shared a segment from the speech on X. They portrayed the scene as “A struggling Trump, visibly unsure, attempting to read from his emotional support paper outside the courthouse.”

Critics have raised concerns about the age and communication abilities of both candidates leading up to the November election.

Joe Biden has made history by becoming the oldest person to occupy the White House, surpassing the previous record-holder, Donald Trump.

During the 2020 campaign, Mr. Trump often ridiculed Joe Biden, labeling him as “Sleepy Joe.” In recent 2024 campaign events, he even went as far as mocking the president’s stutter.

Neither candidate is likely to have these attacks at the forefront of their thoughts.

Closing arguments in the hush money trial are almost complete, with jury deliberations expected to commence as early as Wednesday.
