Be ready for significant snowfall in New York City on Monday evening

The National Weather Service released a report on Monday at 7:21 p.m. warning of heavy snow until 8:15 p.m. in Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, and Ontario counties.

The weather service reports that a band of heavy snow is currently moving southeast at 15 MPH. It is located along a line that extends from near Ontario to near Churchville to near Middleport. This update was provided at 7:20 p.m.

The warning is affecting several areas, including Rochester, Greece, Irondequoit, Clarence, Chili, Lockport, Batavia, Geneva, Canandaigua, Geneseo, East Rochester, Medina, Webster, Fairport, Brighton, Gates-North Gates, Darien Lakes State Park, Ontario, Henrietta, and Penfield. It also includes sections of Interstate 390 between exits 8 and 12, as well as Interstate 90 between exits 42 and 49.

According to the weather service, it is important to be prepared for snow or ice covered roads during winter weather situations. They advise drivers to slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination, as conditions can deteriorate rapidly.
