Arrest made in connection with assault of 9-year-old girl at Grand Central Terminal

A man has been taken into custody for reportedly punching a 9-year-old girl in the face at Grand Central Terminal.

MTA police have apprehended Jean Carlos Zarzuela, a 30-year-old suspect, in relation to the incident that occurred shortly before noon on Saturday. Zarzuela has been charged with a felony count of assault, and further charges are expected.

The girl and her mother were standing in the terminal’s dining concourse when, out of nowhere, the suspect approached them and delivered a sudden punch, as reported by the police.

Zarzuela, who has been in trouble with the police before, fled the scene after the attack.

The victim was taken to NYU Langone-Tisch Hospital by first responders for treatment after she expressed her concerns about pain and dizziness.

The girl is expected to recover.
