Abbott and 13 governors assert states’ right to protect border and self-defense

Thirteen Republican governors, led by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, gathered in Eagle Pass, Texas on Sunday to express their unwavering dedication to border security and the protection of states’ constitutional rights to self-defense.

“Joining forces with Texas, half of the governors in the United States are rallying behind our cause to prioritize border security,” Governor Abbott confidently stated. “Our unified message is clear: we are committed to protecting our constitutional rights and defending against any potential threats or invasions, which have been disregarded due to Joe Biden’s failure to enforce immigration laws in our country.”

In their invasion declarations, over 50 Texas counties have cited the self-defense clause of the U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3. Governor Abbott, who supports this move, stated that the objective is to fight for a safer and more secure border and country.

Abbott was joined by the governors of Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Utah.

In Shelby Park, they made their presence known. This particular park has become the center of attention due to the concertina wire barriers that have sparked three lawsuits involving border barriers in the Eagle Pass area between Texas and the federal government.

According to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, there are currently hundreds of Tennessee troops deployed along the Texas-Mexico border.

“We are ready, even at this moment, to deploy more troops in collaboration with the Texas Department of Military to fulfill that duty,” Lee emphasized. He further emphasized that it is the states that are stepping up to fulfill the role that the federal government has failed to do in order to safeguard our nation.”

Lee expressed his understanding of the detrimental impact of the border policy on individual states. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to support Texas and ensure the safety and security of people nationwide.

According to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, they are firmly standing with Abbott because they believe that every state in the country is now a border state. In their view, if the border is not secure, it poses a threat to the entire country’s security. Kemp further asserts that Joe Biden’s policies are contributing to a decline in national safety.

During his speech, he raised concerns about the number of individuals on the terrorist watch list who have managed to enter the country undetected. He highlighted the staggering figures of 458 million lethal doses of illicit fentanyl and 56,000 pounds of methamphetamine that were confiscated by OLS officers. He emphasized the importance of considering the significant amount of drugs that were not intercepted.

According to Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, it is evident that the fight against border issues is not limited to Texas alone. Many governors from across the country are actively engaging in this battle. She criticized President’s actions by stating that he has not only failed to protect the border and its people but has also been dishonest about it. She highlighted that the President is attempting to shift the responsibility to Congress, even though everyone knows he has the power to make immediate changes to secure the border and protect the country. However, he chooses not to do so.

She emphasized the importance of the current fight, stating that there is no other battle more crucial for governors to participate in. She highlighted the significance of their engagement, stressing that it is absolutely vital for the long-term safety and security of the country.

According to her, Arkansas sent National Guard troops to Texas last year and plans to do the same this year, providing assistance as much as possible and as needed.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte expressed his concern about the influx of people crossing the border illegally, referring to it as an invasion. He emphasized that the constitution grants states the right to defend themselves, which is precisely what Governor Abbott is doing. Governor Gianforte stood in solidarity with Governor Abbott, highlighting the contrasting approach taken by the Biden administration.

According to Abbott, the states’ efforts have proven to be effective. In the past, there were 3,000 to 4,000 foreign nationals illegally entering through the park on a daily basis. However, this number has significantly decreased to an average of only three individuals per day.

According to Abbott, by resisting, we demonstrate our ability to safeguard the border. He further asserts that states have the capability to secure the border, and Joe Biden should not impede their efforts.
