Breaking News: A teen was fatally shot on the Delaware State University campus

On Sunday, officials reported that an 18-year-old woman was fatally shot on the campus of Delaware State University. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Dover police are collaborating with officers from Delaware State University to investigate a shooting incident that occurred around 1:40 a.m. near Warren-Franklin Hall, a dormitory on campus, according to authorities.

According to a statement from the Dover Police, university police were alerted to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body.

According to the police, the woman involved in the incident was not a student at the university and her identity has not been disclosed to the public. She is said to be a resident of Wilmington, located approximately 50 miles north of Delaware State University.

According to the statement by the police, officers provided assistance to the victim and she was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old tragically passed away at the hospital due to her injuries.

Dover Police are currently conducting a homicide investigation in collaboration with Delaware State University Police, according to officials.

Counseling services are now offered at the Tubman Laws Hall housing office to provide support to individuals affected by the situation.
