Dr. Letunya Walker has been appointed as the new Deputy Superintendent of the DJJ school system, bringing fresh leadership to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
According to DJJ Commissioner Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb, Dr. Walker’s appointment as Deputy Superintendent is highly valued due to her extensive knowledge and years of experience in education. The Commissioner believes that Dr. Walker’s dedication to empowering students with an education that prepares them for lifelong learning and success in college and career is commendable.
With 33 years of experience in education, Walker is well-versed in the classroom. She joined the DJJ in 2003 as a teacher at the Milledgeville Youth Development Campus and has since held the position of assistant deputy superintendent.
Throughout her career, she has occupied several leadership roles, such as teacher, principal, regional principal, and director of instructional programs at the DJJ.
Walker brings with her a wealth of experience in the field of education. Prior to joining DJJ, she dedicated 13 years of her career to teaching and serving as an assistant principal in the Baldwin County School District in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Walker will be leading the school system, taking guidance from DJJ Commissioner Reynolds-Cobb.
