Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says they arrest woman for stealing vehicle and money for repairs

A woman from Rome, Georgia, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for reportedly stealing around $8,000 to fund car repair work. Not only did she allegedly steal the money, but she also took the car itself and drove it all the way to Tennessee.

Wendy Marie Ducette received a payment of $7,933 through cash app for providing vehicle bodywork services, as stated in the arrest records from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Ducette stands accused of refusing to return the funds to the victim, instead choosing to deposit the money into her own bank account. She then proceeded to take possession of the car without the owner’s consent and drove all the way to Tennessee.

A Tennessee woman owned a 2017 Lexus SUV, which officials claim had a value of over $10,000.

In July 2023, deputies said that she was pulled over by the police while driving the SUV, which was supposed to be at the auto shop instead.

On March 25th, Ducette faced arrest and was subsequently taken to the Floyd County Jail. The charges against him included theft by deception and theft by conversion.
