Retired Gen. Frank McKenzie, during an interview with ABC News’ “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz, emphasized the pressing need to take ISIS’s threats seriously. According to McKenzie, ISIS has an unyielding determination to carry out attacks on our homeland, and it is crucial that we acknowledge their intent. He firmly stated, “We should believe them when they say that. They’re going to try to do it.”
McKenzie expressed his belief that the threat is increasing. He specifically highlighted the dangers posed by affiliates like ISIS-K, especially in light of their claim of responsibility for a recent deadly attack in Moscow.
“It started growing as soon as we departed from Afghanistan, relieving the pressure on ISIS-K. Therefore, we should anticipate more attempts like this against the United States, as well as our allies and other countries worldwide. I believe this is bound to happen.”
