Hawks and nonprofit Vision to Learn join forces, providing elementary students with the “gift of sight.”

Fifth-grader Iriell Shorter is filled with hope for a bright future, and now, she has gained a crystal-clear vision of all that lies ahead.

Shorter expressed his excitement about wearing the glasses, stating that it gives him a completely different perspective on the world.

Dozens of students at William Boyd Elementary School in northwest Atlanta are currently partaking in this remarkable experience.

When Kilpatrick was in the third grade, she had to start wearing glasses. She believes that poor vision can be a hindrance to students’ progress in school. However, she also believes that with the right support, these students can quickly catch up and overcome any challenges they may face.

In an interview with Channel 2 Action News, Kilpatrick emphasized the significance of programs like this for families who may struggle with the expenses of glasses and eye exams.

The NBA star known as “The Human Highlight Film” provided the encouragement.

Dominique Wilkins, the Atlanta Hawks legend, confidently stated, “If I can wear glasses, anybody can wear glasses.”

Shorter absolutely adores hers.

“I often get compared to Harry Potter, but the girl version!” she remarked.

In addition to the new glasses, each child chose a brand-new storybook to accompany their purchase.
