When it comes to dealing with a picky eater like their goldendoodle Zoey, Connor and Michelle Metrailler have discovered some effective strategies. Living in Toronto, the couple has learned how to handle their senior dog who, despite being 14 in human years, can be quite fussy when it comes to mealtime. Michelle lovingly refers to Zoey as “senile” and acknowledges that she may be a bit spoiled.
During a conversation with People, Michelle revealed, “Zoey is currently on prescription food due to her sensitive stomach, which means she usually requires wet food on top.” However, one day, the couple ran out of wet food and had to serve plain dry kibble instead. This was absolutely unacceptable to their pampered dog, Zoey, who expressed her dissatisfaction.
In a desperate attempt to get Zoey to eat her kibble, Connor resorted to a little bit of trickery. Whenever the spoiled dog refused her food, he would sneakily grab a bottle of ranch dressing from the fridge. Although he didn’t actually open it, he would shake it and casually pass it over her bowl. After adding the pretend salad dressing and giving the bowl a shake, he would place it back down in the feeding stand. Surprisingly, this clever trick seemed to do the trick, as Zoey would eagerly devour her food.
Zoey eagerly shifts her attention and proceeds to devour the very same kibble she had just expelled moments ago. Michelle proudly characterizes Zoey as exceptionally intelligent. However, this pampered canine remains blissfully unaware of the sneaky ranch dressing trick. As soon as Connor sets down her bowl, she promptly heads over and eagerly starts eating.
