Jen Psaki from MSNBC presented evidence of Donald Trump’s past endorsements of political violence, emphasizing that his recent “bloodbath” comments were not misinterpreted.
During a rally in Dayton, OH on Saturday, Trump addressed the crowd and discussed the auto industry. He made the following statement:
Weโre going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line. And youโll not be able to sell those cars, if I get elected. Now, if I donโt get elected, itโs gonna be a bloodbath. That will be the least of it. Itโs gonna be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it, but they will not sell those cars.
Jen Psaki responded sarcastically, mocking the Trump team’s statement by saying, “Oh, of course! The Trump team wants us to believe that he was just talking about the auto industry. How convenient! It’s important to consider the full context, otherwise, it would be irresponsible.”
Psaki went on to say:
Well, if they want us to consider the full context, letโs do just that. Because โthe full contextโ is the Trump kicked off the same exact rally by saluting the people who were convicted for the deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, all to the tune of the National Anthem sung by a choir of imprisoned insurrectionists. โThe full contextโ is that some of the first words out of Trumpโs mouth last night, same rally, were thanking those rioters and calling them โpatriots.โ โThe full contextโ is that he also said, in this same rally, quote, โIf this election isnโt won, Iโm not sure you will ever have another election in this country.โ โThe full contextโ is that he went on to say that some undocumented immigrants are, quote, โnot people.โ And, of course, โthe full contextโ is that this is much bigger than one single speech.
According to Psaki, it is important to note that the full context of the comment was not missed. She emphasizes that this was not just an off-message remark; rather, it reflects his actual message.
