Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake submitted her petition signatures on Friday morning to qualify for the July 30 primary ballot.
“We have received an overwhelming amount of support for our campaign and candidacy, with an abundance of signatures pouring in. However, we felt it was time to move forward and progress to the next stage of our mission: winning this election, reclaiming a U.S. Senate seat, and ultimately regaining the majority in the United States Senate,” Lake expressed to reporters upon submitting the signatures.
The day after her Cave Creek rally, Mary Lake filed her petition, marking a significant step forward in her campaign since its announcement in October. She estimates that she gathered a remarkable 10,120 signatures, surpassing the required minimum of 7,072. However, it is important to note that the signatures still need to go through the verification process before becoming official, as stated by the spokesperson from the Arizona Secretary of State’s office.
In her speech, Lake expressed her desire to bring the party together in anticipation of the upcoming general election.
Lake, who ran for governor in 2022, expressed his readiness to include individuals who may not have been with the team throughout their journey.
U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego, the presumed Democratic nominee for Senate, submitted approximately 14,186 signatures on March 4, according to The Center Square. He was required to obtain 6,556 signatures in order to qualify for the Democratic primary.
“At the time, Gallego expressed his pride as he submitted the signatures on our behalf. It serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the people of Arizona, who don’t shy away from a challenge but instead confront it head-on with unwavering resolve,” Gallego exclaimed confidently.
According to FiveThirtyEight, polling indicates that Lake is poised to win the Republican nomination by a significant margin, despite competition from Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
In a recent announcement, Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema confirmed that she will not be seeking re-election. This decision was widely anticipated, considering the significant challenge she would have faced in gathering more than 40,000 signatures by April 1st to secure a place on the November ballot as an independent candidate. It is worth noting that Sinema had officially left the Democratic Party back in December 2022.
