Brother reveals that mother’s death on flight was due to natural causes

According to Chris Volz, the brother of the Indiana mother of two who tragically passed away after falling ill on a plane returning from the Dominican Republic, her cause of death was determined to be natural.

The death of 41-year-old Stefanie Smith has been shrouded in mystery for the past two weeks, leaving her family desperate for answers.

Volz described the medical event as a truly tragic occurrence.

On February 28th, Smith fell ill during her American Airlines flight from the Dominican Republic. She had just spent five days at a resort with her boyfriend and another couple. Due to her condition, the flight was diverted to Turks and Caicos. Smith was immediately taken to a local hospital, but unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead.

During the vacation, Maria Yannotti, who was on the Caribbean island with Smith, mentioned to ABC News that Smith seemed to be in good health. According to Yannotti, Smith would go for a run every morning before enjoying breakfast at the resort.

Smith’s passing has left a void in the lives of her two children, a son who is 18 years old and a daughter who is 16 years old. Volz anticipates that her body will be repatriated to the United States in the coming week.
