Cause of death for 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham revealed

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has disclosed the cause of death for 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham from Livingston, Texas.

A bond has been denied for 42-year-old Don Steven McDougal, who is facing charges of capital murder, as stated in court records.

The young girl from Livingston had been missing for six days and was the focus of an Amber Alert.

According to investigators, McDougal, a convicted felon, provided false information about his location on the day Audrii went missing last week.

Investigators also utilized evidence gathered from cell phone analysis and information provided by McDougal.

“We are discussing the connection between McDougal and the evidence in this case. It is important for us to handle this carefully and ensure that we can confidently say there is substantial evidence based on the information we have gathered,” Lyons explained. “We have received valuable contributions from witnesses and individuals on social media who shared videos and pictures. This additional evidence has been instrumental in identifying these locations, along with the evidence from cellphone videos.”

What happened

Audrii disappeared on Thursday, February 15th, and investigators believe that Don Steven McDougal was the last person to see her alive on that day.

McDougal has been identified as the primary person of interest in Audrii’s disappearance, although investigators have not ruled out any suspects. Presently, he is being held in the Polk County Jail.

Lyons mentioned that the individual agreed to collaborate with their team and has accompanied them to specific locations.

McDougal resided in a camper located behind Audrii’s father and grandmother’s residence. Whenever Audrii missed the bus stop or school, McDougal would assist by taking her there.

According to the sheriff, the individual in question was not only a friend of the family but also a friend of the father. As a result, he was given permission to reside in a trailer situated behind the house.

According to records obtained by KPRC 2, McDougal, who has an extensive criminal history, was previously found guilty of enticing a child in Brazoria County.

In July 2007, he was indicted by a Brazoria County grand jury, with his bond being set at $25,000 at that time.
