Three men have been apprehended by the Habersham County deputies for allegedly pilfering money from individuals in multiple states.
Dalton police reached out to investigators regarding a rental vehicle housing three individuals suspected of being involved in prior burglaries in the vicinity.
A Habersham deputy spotted the rental near a Dairy Queen in Clarkesville using a Flock camera, which led to a chase initiated by the suspects.
The pursuit came to a halt right in front of a Dunkin Donuts, and at that point, all three individuals in the vehicle swiftly fled from the pursuing officers.
Two men entered the Wilbanks Lumber property, while the third man ventured into the woods nearby.
The store discovered the two men hiding in a pile of wood, and shortly after, the authorities apprehended the man who had fled into the woods.
At the time of the arrest, none of the suspects were found carrying any firearms.
According to Investigator George Cason of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, criminals are engaging in various fraudulent activities, such as using debit cards, credit cards, and counterfeit checks to steal money from unsuspecting individuals. This criminal activity extends across multiple states, potentially even reaching as far as Texas.
The names of the men have not been released by the sheriff’s office, but they will be booked at the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville.
All of them are currently dealing with obstruction and fleeing charges. Furthermore, authorities have revealed that they had stolen a debit card from someone and have been utilizing it.
