Texas town invaded by 706 individuals named Kyle in world record attempt

In this particular Texas city, the number of people named Kyle exceeds the available space.

The city of Kyle, Texas, made another valiant effort to set a new world record for the largest gathering of people with a shared name. However, despite the presence of 706 Kyles of all ages at a park in the Austin suburbs, the city fell short of achieving their goal on Saturday.

According to Guinness World Records, the current holder of the crown is a town in Bosnia. In 2017, they managed to gather a staggering 2,325 individuals all named Ivan.

Last year, the Kyles descended upon the Ivans at the much-anticipated Gathering of the Kyles. The official count of attendees reached an impressive 1,490 in this bustling Texas city, located just 37 miles south of Austin, the state’s capital.

According to the Social Security Administration, Kyle is not a popular name in the United States. In 2023, it ranked 416th among male names.

Ivan was ranked 153 in comparison.
