Elsie Webb, Sylvia Crane, Mary Grace Tassone, and Joan Harris, who have been friends for a long time, are living a dream similar to that of the beloved Golden Girls.
Sylvia emphasized the significance of friendship and cherished the presence of her old friends. In an interview with Good Morning America, she expressed her gratitude for having these three remarkable women by her side, especially considering the fact that many of their peers have already passed away. Sylvia finds great comfort in knowing that she can still rely on the support and companionship of her long-standing friendships.
The friends first crossed paths during their teenage years while attending Mt. St. Maryโs Academy in Grass Valley, California. Graduating between 1953 and 1955, they each embarked on their own unique journeys, which included marriage, careers, raising children, and even becoming grandmothers.
Today, all of them are now widowed or single, residing in a retirement community called Atria Senior Living, which happens to be located just down the road from their alma mater.
The Best Friends Stayed Went From High School Graduates to GrandmasโThen Settled Down Together
Mary Grace was the initial resident to settle into the community. Gradually, the others followed suit, and in July, Slyvia became the final member, completing the Golden Girl quartet.
“When I entered the dining room, all three of them were present,” Sylvia shared. “It gave me a pleasant feeling.”
Joan had recently moved in just two months ago.
“They were familiar faces in an unfamiliar setting, people I could rely on and who understood me on a deeper level,” she revealed. “I didn’t have to go into detail about my experiences or background because they already knew all about it.”
The grandmas have no plans of leaving the retirement community anytime soon, all thanks to their amazing best friends. They spend most evenings reliving their high school memories, watching movies, and indulging in delightful musicals together.
