Actor Steve Buscemi is reportedly doing well following an incident where he was unexpectedly punched in the face by an unidentified man on a street in New York City. According to his publicist, Buscemi sustained no serious injuries from the incident.
The left eye of the 66-year-old star of “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire” was bruised, swollen, and bleeding after he was assaulted in Manhattan on Wednesday morning. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to a statement released on Sunday by his publicist, Steve Buscemi fell victim to a random act of violence in Mid-Town Manhattan and was assaulted. Fortunately, he is doing fine and is grateful for all the well wishes he has received.
The New York Post was the first to report the assault.
The New York Police Department released a statement on Wednesday regarding the assault, without disclosing the victim’s name. Buscemi’s representative later confirmed that the unnamed victim mentioned in the police statement was indeed the actor.
The police department has reported that no arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
Michael Stuhlbarg, who starred alongside Buscemi in “Boardwalk Empire,” experienced a distressing incident in Central Park on March 31. He was struck in the back of the neck by a rock. However, Stuhlbarg did not let this deter him. He courageously pursued his attacker, who was subsequently apprehended outside the park.
