Barron Trump’s Delegate Role at Republican Convention Withdrawn in Change of Plan

Barron Trump will not serve as an at-large convention delegate for his father, after all.

The office of former First Lady Melania Trump released a statement on Friday, expressing Barron’s gratitude for being selected as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party. However, Barron is unable to participate in the delegation due to prior commitments.

The reason behind the youngest son of Donald Trump, who is expected to be the GOP nominee for 2024, opting out of the event has not been disclosed.

The news came just one day after Trump showed his support for his son’s involvement in the Republican convention, set to take place from July 15-18 in Milwaukee.

During an interview with Telemundo 51 Miami, Trump expressed his support for the idea, stating that the individual in question is quite young at 17 years old. He further emphasized his approval, saying, “But if they can do that, I’m all for it.”

Trump erroneously stated that his son’s age was incorrect; Barron Trump actually turned 18 in March.

The Republican Party of Florida made an announcement on Thursday, revealing that Barron has been chosen as an at-large delegate for the state’s 125-member delegation. It’s worth mentioning that other members of the Trump family, such as Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, are also delegates, with Eric Trump serving as the chair of Florida’s delegation.

The trial involving hush money payments, in which Trump is currently involved, will take a temporary break next Friday. This will allow the former president to be present at his son’s high school graduation ceremony.
