President Joe Biden hosted a special event at the White House on Thursday to honor the Las Vegas Aces, the current champions of the WNBA. He commended the team for their exceptional performance and praised the significant progress made in women’s basketball throughout the year.
“It’s truly significant for girls and women to finally witness their own representation,” expressed Biden during the commemoration, taking place in the East Room of the White House. “This is not only important for them, but for all Americans. As a nation, we must rally behind women’s sports and provide our unwavering support.”
Both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were each presented with jerseys from the winning team, as is customary. With a spirited enthusiasm, Biden exclaimed, “Put me in, Coach, I’m ready to play!”
Harris commended the team for their ability to play with immense joy and serve as positive role models, both on and off the basketball court.
Harris expressed her admiration, stating, “You have the power to inspire individuals both within our country and globally.”
The Las Vegas Aces emerged victorious in the WNBA championship in October, securing their second consecutive WNBA title by defeating the New York Liberty.
