Madonna definitely knows how to make an exit, and she did just that in Brazil. The iconic singer closed out her world tour with an unforgettable performance that drew in over a million people. The scene was absolutely insane as the crowd gathered on the sandy shores.
Around 1.6 million fans of Madonna flocked to Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Copacabana Beach for the highly anticipated free concert. The event was nothing short of a spectacle, with the massive crowd even managing to synchronize their voices and take over singing “Like A Virgin” at one point.
The last night of Madge’s tour, which had a rough beginning in October, proved to be a significant moment for her. The crowd of fans in Rio broke the previous record for the largest Madonna concert, which was a mere 130,000 at her 1987 Paris show.
In the Rio sand, she is treading the path of legends. Just like the Rolling Stones, who rocked the beach with 1.2 million fans in 2006, and Rod Stewart, who performed the largest free rock concert ever in 1994 with a staggering 4 million people in attendance for his New Year’s Eve show.
Madonna’s tour was initially scheduled to commence last summer. However, it had to be delayed due to a severe infection that almost claimed her life. Despite this setback, she made an astonishing recovery and successfully launched the tour a few months later.
The tour has been filled with numerous memorable moments, one of which includes an unexpected visit from the renowned Ricky Martin. However, during his guest appearance, he became a little too excited by the captivating energy on stage.
During the event, there was an incident where Madonna unintentionally asked a fan in a wheelchair to stand up and dance, which caused a bit of a mishap.
