A home in Orleans County became the scene of an arrest after deputies discovered drugs and a stolen gun. The authorities apprehended a man and a woman in connection with the illegal items.
Deputies from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on West Shelby Road in order to serve a warrant to Jacoun J. Harden, aged 38. The warrant had been issued due to a violation of probation related to a weapon charge.
When deputies entered the premises, 30-year-old Maranda Button granted them access. Upon inspection, they discovered a loaded pistol and drug paraphernalia scattered on the floor. It was later revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office back in February 2024.
Harden was accused of being present in the house and fleeing upstairs to conceal himself, adamantly refusing to emerge. Deputies apprehended him following a brief standoff.
Harden and Button face charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property — firearm. Additional charges may be added as the investigation progresses.
