Anne Hathaway’s former casting directors deny chemistry reads on their sets

Anne Hathaway has revealed an interesting anecdote about her experience during a chemistry test for two of her major movie projects. The talented actress claims that she had to engage in kissing scenes with a total of 10 different men during these tests. However, it is important to note that this did not occur on two of her most notable films.

According to casting director Donna Morong, who worked on the film ‘Princess Diaries’ in 2001, she has never been involved in auditions that required actors to engage in on-screen kissing to test their chemistry. This contradicts Anne Hathaway’s claim that she had to participate in such auditions early in her career.

Speculation arose among fans about which film Anne was referring to in her interview with V Magazine. Many speculated that “The Princess Diaries” could be the film in question. It is worth noting that the coming-of-age movie was released in 2001 and involved Anne kissing two of her co-stars.

The kisses in the movie were quite innocent, keeping in line with the family-friendly nature of Disney films.

Another casting director, Linda Lamontagne, who worked with AH on the show ‘Get Real’ in the late-’90s/early-’00s, has also denied being involved in any uncomfortable chemistry read. She echoed Morong’s statement, emphasizing that it was not their doing.

According to Linda, she has been working in casting since 1988, starting with “Capital News.” Throughout her career, she has never required actors to engage in kissing scenes during auditions or chemistry tests.

LL emphasizes that they never choose scenes that may make a talent uncomfortable for auditions. They understand the pressure of auditioning for something new or even established and aim to avoid adding any additional stress. They believe it is important to create a comfortable and supportive environment for actors during the audition process.

“Brokeback Mountain” can also be removed from the list, even though it was one of Anne’s early mature roles. According to the film’s casting director, Avy Kaufman, she has no memory of any incidents similar to what Anne shared in her recent cover story.

We have contacted casting directors from Anne’s successful projects from the early 2000s, but we have not received any response yet.
