Charges filed against woman accused of crashing vehicle into birthday party, resulting in deaths of 2 children

A woman is currently being charged with second-degree murder after she is alleged to have driven into a child’s birthday party in Michigan. Tragically, this incident resulted in the loss of two children’s lives and left several others injured. Officials are continuing to investigate the details surrounding this devastating event.

According to the sheriff and prosecutors, Marshella Chidester, 66, reportedly crashed into a building at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Newport on Saturday afternoon. Her car ended up approximately 25 feet inside the building.

According to Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffery Yorkey, a tragic incident resulted in the loss of two young lives. An 8-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother were both killed.

According to Yorkey, the mother and 11-year-old brother of the victims sustained severe injuries.

According to the prosecutor, a 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman sustained severe injuries.

The aunt of the 8-year-old and 4-year-old victims shared with reporters on Tuesday the devastating incident that occurred at the birthday party. As they were enjoying themselves and sitting at the table, a woman crashed her car through the building, shattering our lives completely.

Tears streamed down the aunt’s face as she recounted the heart-wrenching moment when she had to break the devastating news to her sister that her precious babies were no longer with them. The weight of the sorrow was palpable in her voice as she recalled her sister’s anguished words, “How am I supposed to live without my babies?”

She added that her nephew and sister are still battling for their lives.

According to Yorkey, Childester is facing multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, and four counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.

Chidester appeared in court on Tuesday and is scheduled to make another appearance on April 30th.
