Authorities announced on Sunday that two dead bodies were found in rural Texas as part of the investigation into the disappearance of two mothers from Kansas who went missing in Oklahoma.
In a joint statement on X, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the FBI, and the Texas County Sheriff’s Office announced that the bodies will be transferred to the Office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner. There, they will undergo examination to determine their identification as well as the cause and manner of death.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the deceased individual.
Moms Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, both from Hugoton, Kansas, have been missing since March 30. The latest update on their whereabouts is that they were driving in Oklahoma to pick up Butler’s children for a birthday party in Kansas.
Their vehicle was later discovered abandoned in rural Oklahoma, close to the Kansas border.
Four individuals were apprehended and charged by Oklahoma police on Saturday. They face two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree. These charges are related to the disappearance of Butler and Kelley.
Tad Bert Cullum, aged 43, along with Tifany Machel Adams, aged 54, Cole Earl Twombly, aged 50, and Cora Twombly, aged 44, are the four individuals who are currently in custody as of Sunday night.
